EWC competes at Sheridan College rodeo
The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer Rodeo team competed in the annual fall rodeo hosted by Sheridan College September 20-22. EWC sophomore Karissa Rayhill, Martin, SD won the goat tying for the second weekend in a row. She was 1st in the first round with a time of 6.8 seconds, 2nd in the short round with a 7.0 and 1st in the average.
Teigen Marchant, sophomore, Newcastle, WY, won the first round of the steer wrestling with a time of 4.2 seconds. He placed 2nd in the short round and 2nd in the average with a total time of 8.9 seconds.
The sophomore team roping team of Dalton Wieneke, West Point, NE and Canton Afdahl, Torrington, WY placed 4th in the first round with a time of 6.6 seconds. Teammate Ty Bass, freshman, Brewster, NE, qualified for the short round with partner Grant Turek, Gillette College.
“It is great to see our upperclassmen doing so well,” said Coach Jake Clark. “We are just getting started and we have a lot of rodeos remaining.”
The Lancers will travel to Riverton, WY to compete in the Central Wyoming College hosted rodeo on September 27-29.
