PTK student members wrap and put together bags of toys to give to the children at Torrington Learning Center
The members of PTK and SkillsUSA at Eastern Wyoming College raffled off an I-Pad and collected donations to purchase gifts to give to the children at Torrington Learning Center. The students raised over $800 and purchased toys which were presented to Tonya Nepper at the center on the EWC campus.
The PTK officers chose to be involved in the project because they had been studying ways to build bridges out of poverty for young people. One of the ways is to identify and build on talents and strengths that children have. Students carefully selected toys that would help the young students build on those strengths, such as xylophones for those with musical talent; basketball hoops and balls for those with athletic talent; puzzles and Lego’s for those with spatial talents.
Phi Theta Kappa officers are Chelsea Olson, President, Kailee Duryea, Vice President, Molly Weglin, Secretary and Nicole Donbraska, Treasurer. SkillsUSA officers are Amber Jerke, President, Kyle Nicolls, Vice President, Jessica Rammell, Treasurer and Ryan Urbanek, Secretary.
