Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington and Douglas is pleased to announce that Mr. David Currie, an instructor in the Nursing program on the Torrington campus, has been appointed to serve on the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (OADN) Board of Directors.

Currie was appointed to the Nominating Committee. Nominating Committee members review and recommend candidates for offices to the Board of Directors. The Nominating Committee meets via conference calls and at the OADN Annual Convention. Currie will serve and two-year term. “This is an excellent opportunity to represent our (EWC) associate degree nursing colleagues and support OADN’s vision as the leader in dynamic and collaborative nursing education,” said Currie.

“Serving on the Board of Directors for OADN is exactly what we teach our nursing students to do. We encourage them to become leaders in the nursing profession,” continued Currie. “Serving on the OADN Board is also something I personally believe in. I believe in Associate programs. Community colleges serve as an integral part of educating nurses. I support our college as well as any other community college in the country. This is a wonderful appointment and I am honored to serve as a representative from Wyoming.”

“I’m very proud of David expanding his new leadership role in this national organization. He will be representing not only EWC but our entire Western Region,” said Suzey Delger, Director of Nursing. “David has already made an impact on his return to the EWC Nursing Program by spearheading the transition to a more comprehensive clinical experience due to the COVID-19 situation. We are now better prepared to provide a better nursing education in every way due to his efforts. His participation at the national level in this fine organization that exists for Associate Degree programs is monumental. It’s not often someone from rural Wyoming can set on a national board of directors for an organization such as OADN.”

It’s their vision to expand networks that promote leadership, collaboration, and advocacy to further enrich nursing education and the communities we serve. OADN is the only national organization dedicated to associate degree nursing.
