EWC finishes 3rd at OJC tournament
The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer golf team competed at the Otero Junior College tournament in La Junta, CO, March 31 and April 1. The Lancers finished 3rd with a score of 596. McCook Community College was first with 574, Northeastern Junior College was second with 589.
“We flat got outplayed in La Junta. We had a pretty good day on Thursday but McCook and NJC played very well,” said Coach Zach Smith. “Friday had some tough conditions and we just didn’t play up to our standards. This is the type of tournament that we can learn from and get better. We are looking forward to putting out best foot forward in McCook.”
Leading the Lancers individually was sophomore Tim Van Stiphout, Hasselt, Belguim with scores of 69, 78 for 147. He finished 5th. Other Lancer scores were as follows:

Simon Carlgren, freshman, Falkoping, Sweden – 72, 81 – 153, tied 13th
The tournament scheduled in McCook has been changed to a one-day tournament on Wednesday, April 13th due to the weather. The Lancers will then compete at the NJC tournament April 14-15.
