EWC wins Otero tournament
The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer Golf Team won the Otero Junior College Tournament held on Friday, April 12th. Because of the weather, the tournament was changed to a one-day, 18 hole event. The Lancers shot a 285. McCook Community College was 2nd with a 293.
“This event was once again reduced to a 1 day, 18 hole event instead of our normal 2 day, 36 hold events because of snow in LaJunta,” said Coach Zach Smith. “The team continued the momentum from the last few tournaments to earn another win. Everyone played well this week which contributed to the 8 stroke victory. I’m looking forward to the tournament in Riverton and our home tournament the next week to close out the season.”
Harry Walch and RJ Moya tied for the tournament win with scores of 70. Walch is a sophomore from Staines, England. Moya is a freshman from Three Rivers, TX. Other Lancer scores were as follows:
Gonzalo Arcelay, Munguia, Spain, 72 – tied 4th
Mason Hale, Atkinson, NE, 73 – tied 8th
George Elliott, Salisbury, England, 74 – tied 10th
JoVin Tan, Taiping, Malaysia, 75 – tied 13th
The Lancers will travel to Riverton, WY to play in the Central Wyoming College tournament April 18-19.
