Eastern Wyoming College offers a few programs and courses that lead to professional licensure or certification. The information on this page is provided for your consumer protection in accordance with Title IV of the Higher Education Act.

Work is underway on a system that will allow you to easily determine if a course or degree program offered by EWC will meet the eligibility requirements for licensure or certification in the state where one intends to practice. Although EWC programs meet or prepare students to meet the requirements for individuals wishing to practice in Wyoming, other states may require additional education, testing, or certifications that EWC cannot provide.

By selecting a program and then a state or U.S. territory, a general disclosure of the research EWC has done in that state is displayed, indicating one of three statuses:

  • Yes, the EWC program or course requirements lead to licensure recognized by that state or territory.
  • No, the state or territory does not recognize the EWC program or course requirements toward licensure.
  • TBD (to be determined), the college has not yet determined the satus — applicants or students interested in those states/territories should request through Admissions or an advisor for EWC to work with officials in the state or territory to determine the status.

If EWC is unable to determine the ability of its programs or courses to meet the eligibility requirements or the programs or courses do not meet eligibility requirements for professional licensure with another state or territory, EWC is required to provide an applicant or student with current contact information for any applicable licensing boards and advise the applicant or student to determine whether the program meets requirements for licensure in the state or territory where they are located. EWC determines student location for each student at the time the application for admission is accepted.

Until our system is fully operational, EWC has not yet determined the status of its program or course requirements toward meeting eligibility for licensure in any state except Wyoming. For our programs that lead to licensure in Wyoming, please refer to the information below.

Barbering and Cosmetology (BARB/CSMO) Notes
Upon completion of EWC Cosmetology/Barbering programs, the college will certify the number of clock hours you have earned that can be presented to the Wyoming Board of Cosmetology as eligibility to take the National Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology (NIC) theory and practical examinations. Upon successful completion of the examinations and payment of application fees, the State of Wyoming will grant licensure. The NIC exams are recognized by many other U.S. states and Guam. Licensure will likely be accepted by all other states based on passing the NIC exam, proof of clock hours, and payment of any state licensing fees.
Nursing (ADN) Notes
Upon completion of the EWC ADN program, the college will certify the number of clock hours you have earned and a transcript of all classes taken to satisfy the program requirements. These will be presented to the Wyoming State Board of Nursing as eligibility to take the NCLEX from the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. Upon successful completion of the examination and payment of application fees, the Wyoming State Board of Nursing will grant licensure. Once granted, this multistate license is transferrable between member states of the Nurse Licensure Compact according to their regulations.
Veterinary Technician (VTTK.AAS) Notes
Although the State of Wyoming doesn’t currently license veterinary technicians or aides, graduates of the EWC Veterinary Technolgy program are well-prepared for and encouraged to take the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) as part of a voluntary credentialing process. Passing the VTNE is one step that is required for licensure in many other states. The American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB) provides information related to state regulatory boards.
